Burnout aficionados rejoice: Harley-Davidson has just announced the introduction of its new Screamin’ Eagle Milwaukee-Eight 131 crate engine, Milwaukee’s biggest and most powerful street-legal mill yet. The 2,147cc monster is a bolt-in replacement for 2017–later model Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycles that originally ran with a Milwaukee-Eight oil-cooled or Twin-Cooled engine, and is designed to run at high rpm to serve up a much greater chunk of torque from ‘cruising speeds;’ Harley goes on to promise that “riders of many late-model Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycles will experience commanding performance from the moment the throttle is cracked open.” That motor, thankfully, will be backed by a factory warranty.

The good news, as you just read, is that the new Milwaukee-Eight 131 is a drop-in, street-ready replacement featuring robust Screamin’ Eagle components. The 131 engine brings the same 4.5-inch stroke of the Milwaukee-Eight 114 powerplant but pairs it with new 4.31-inch bore cylinders that have a patented design. Milwaukee-Eight Extreme Ported four-valve cylinder heads are CNC-ported and fitted with 1mm-larger-diameter valves to optimize air-fuel flow and feature machined combustion chambers shaped to optimize combustion efficiency. The engine also gets a high-lift SE8-517 camshaft and high-performance cam bearing, high-compression (10.7:1) forged pistons, a 64mm throttle body and intake manifold, and high-flow (5.5 grams per second) fuel injectors. It’s a recipe that, according to Harley, “produces 131 pound-feet of torque and 121 horsepower at the rear wheel;” or at least does so when paired with a set of Screamin’ Eagle Street Cannon mufflers.

The SE 131 starts at a $6,195 MSRP (Screamin’ Eagle Stage IV badging included).

This being a Screamin’ Eagle product, naturally you’ll see brand-appropriate logos and finishes adorning it; detailing includes 131 Stage IV badging on the cylinder heads and timer cover, and you can have it in a choice of two finishes—Black and Chrome or Black and Gloss Black. As we said earlier, you can get a version to fit 2017–later bikes equipped with an oil-cooled Milwaukee-Eight engine or one for those running the Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight engine, but Trike models are not compatible. The Screamin’ Eagle 131 engine is also eligible for Custom Coverage under the motorcycle’s factory 24-month vehicle limited warranty when it’s installed by an authorized H-D dealer within 60 days of vehicle purchase; otherwise it’s backed by a 12-month limited warranty.

What’s it include? Here’s a better description from the H-D website:
